Matt Varga The Nike Blazer Mid has reached timeless status, remaining in vogue without compromising the structure it arrived with back in 1977. That perennial appeal means that it’s often a Nike inclusion in new “pseudo-packs,” inline offerings that showcase new design themes across several models. Another one seems to be taking shape, as the Nike Blazer Mid ’77 “Resort and Sport” arrives in the same mold as an Air Force 1 from last month.
This colorway takes the “Resort” half of the equation literally, draping the heel tab and Swoosh in a terry cloth fabric. However, the other side of that certainly does some heavy lifting as well, with the Nike branding here revamped to evoke imagery of collegiate athletics. Keeping that in mind, it’s just as easy to interpret the texture change on the Swoosh as an allusion to tennis courts lined with manicured hedges. Either way, leaning on a combo of white and green is always a recipe for success. The worn and vintage accents elsewhere with the exposed foam tongue and slightly aged midsole are just the cherry on top.
The Nike Blazer Mid ’77 “Resort and Sport” is expected to roll out to retailers and Nike.com in the near future, carrying a $100 retail price when it does.
