Nike Engulfs The Dunk Low In Flames With “Hoops Fireball”

Kanji lettering highlights this complex upcoming release.

Nike Engulfs The Dunk Low In Flames With “Hoops Fireball”

The Nike Dunk Low, maybe more than any Nike silhouette, has proved to be a canvas where designers’ ideas can run wild. We’ve seen every manner of funky patterns and intricate details grace Peter Moore’s inventions, with a bulk of that work done in collaborative fashion. However, in-house formulations are sometimes prone to do the same, exactly the case with the upcoming Nike Dunk Low “Hoops Fireball.”

It doesn’t take long to find the tie to the NBA Jam-like title, with a debossed emblem stamped on the rear panel picturing a basketball mid-flight with a fiery trail behind it. The other main addition is thick embroidery that dresses the Swoosh and rear collar, a pale yellow and light blue design that echoes that emblem’s shape while working in other on-theme motifs. Lastly, bright orange Kanji lettering marks the outsole, seemingly mirrored on the interior of the tongue tag, though initial looks made it hard to discern their true significance.

Given the conservative choices of widely available, two-tone sorts of Dunks, the additional consideration that this edition receives no doubt creates a special edition sort of atmosphere. However, these don’t go too far from ground level- the colorway elsewhere is relatively staid, with pure white leather underpinnings matched by pine green cracked leather over top.

As of writing, no release date nor retail price has been set for the Nike Dunk Low “Hoops Fireball.” As always, we’ll be sure to keep this page updated as more details emerge. For now, you can find a full official gallery just ahead.
