Thirty years after their initial debut, the Air Jordan 9 “Dark Powder Blue” is back. The shoes retro’d in 2010 with added “23” stitching on the heel, but this pair does justice to the colorway’s OG appearance with a blank canvas. Rich blue drawn from Jordan’s Chapel Hill days spreads across the midsole, matched on the spine, tongue lining, and “Air Jordan” typography. Otherwise, the delivery fulfills its mission with a white leather upper treated to lateral and medial perforations, topped off with a black tongue and laces.

Looking ahead, Jordan plans to retro another 1994 classic by way of the Air Jordan 9 Olive in October. Interesting tidbit on Jordan’s ninth signature shoe; he never actually wore a pair on court until his stint with the Wizards in 2003. If you recall, Jordan took an 18-month hiatus from basketball after the 1992/93 season to play baseball, but he did wear a cleat Jordan 9 as a member of the Birmingham Barons.
