We’re just weeks away from the debut of the seventeenth chapter of the Nike KD saga. Kevin Durant’s latest model, the Nike KD 17, has been noted for its relation to 1998’s Air Max Plus, then a marvel of innovation for its Tuned Air unit that featured uneven PSI chambers that perfectly align with science-backed data. Now the question is: will the KD 17 featured a Tuned Air bag of its own, or is this design choice purely cosmetic?
While we await an official announcement from Nike regarding the tech specs of the shoe, a new colorway has emerged as part of the first batch of KD 17 colorways. Featuring a clean white base, Nike adds a blue exterior cage with a color gradient, further nodding to that iconic Air Max shoe from 1998. The clean white persists on the midsole, while the rubber traction opts for a cool light blue mint shade. The curvy lines in the Swoosh, however, suggest that this colorway could be inspired by the early Air Penny models.
Again, we’re weeks out from the expected launch, which means Nike is sure to unveil the shoe properly sometime in early April before Durant himself eventually switches over as the Playoff picture comes into focus.
In other Nike hoops updates, here’s an update on the KD 16 Aunt Pearl, which continues to be one of the more inquired releases of the current model.
