Matt Varga As one of the foremost athletes under the adidas banner, there’s no shortage of allusions to Lionel Messi throughout the Three Stripes catalog in the past 15+ years. As the MLS season begins to heat up, adidas paying homage to his latest career arc, putting Messi and his Inter Miami club in the spotlight for a new set of adidas Sambas.
Two corresponding colorways mark this collection, fittingly clad in the trademark black & pink of the club’s kits. The “Away” version places an all-midnight upper on top of the traditional Samba translucent gum sole, wearing the team’s crest on the tongue. That rosy hue only dresses the heel cup and Three Stripes branding on the quarter, making this the more lowkey formulation of the two. The “Home” edition inverts that layout entirely, spotlighting pink leather up top. Outside of that color change, the shoe is more starkly dedicated to Messi himself, wearing his brand’s logo on the tongue in place of Inter Miami iconography.
Both pairs in the adidas “Inter Miami/Lionel Messi” pack are already available via adidas UK, with a stateside release still pending. Considering their £100 MSRP overseas, it’s likely they’ll both command the typical $100 price tag once they materialize in the US.
