Though some of the most expressive Nike Dunk Low designs have arrived via out-of-house collaborations, the in-line releases for the silhouette have more and more proved that Beaverton creatives are perfectly capable of coming to the same results on their own two. With the illustrative “Big Money Savings” Dunk arriving later this month, another one is being added to the calendar with the Nike SB Dunk Low “City of Style.”
While first looks came in December, the new details about this pair come courtesy of @slamcityskates. Those who have loved recent dunk releases like the Maui Wowie, Paisley or Carpet Company releases will likely gravitate towards this one- again spotlighting the “strip-away” philosophy. Once distressed, a vivid red base is revealed on the collar, mudguard and eyestay panels. Once fully “cut,” pieces of the original fabric remain outlining each panel.
Consistent with our first look, the overriding periwinkle upper section is still a standout feature. Evoking vintage cartography, sepia-tinted illustrations jump between retro and modern depictions, with hot-air balloons sliding in next to subways. The piping carries through that same concept, cylinders of checkered brown & beige tracing around the whole design.
The Nike SB Dunk Low “City of Style” has already begun cropping up at overseas skate retailers. For those stateside, expect a release on April 22nd, commanding a $125 price tag.
Staying in the skateboarding realm, the we got our first look Nike SB Dunk Low “Escargot” ahead of their release date, presumably around the Olympics.
