Though the popularity of Kyrie Irving shoes during his time with Nike was unquestioned, the end of that deal threw the future of his trademark into question. Luckily for him and his fans, the ANTA KAI 1 has been off to a hot start in the first couple months of its lifespan. ANTA has now officially announced the ANTA KAI 1 “Enlightened Warrior” that serves its next step.
The first thing that jumps out is the continued presence of orange, purple and pink, a palette dominant with “Artist On Court” and still influential on the “KAIVERSE” pair. Here, it’s deployed via scattered stripes on the toe-box and midsole that alternate between shoes, running the spectrum from pink to neon green across the two. Additionally, the pattern that dresses the upper is radically changed, going from the radial, sun-like design from past editions to opposing patches of black & white geometry. The combination of all these factors men that even if the colors at play are more conservative, the end product is just as explosive as ever, a philosophy shaping up as a constant across his new signature line.
