The Asphaltgold x Puma Palermo “Scopa” Honors Italian Hospitality

Named after an Italian card game.

The Asphaltgold x Puma Palermo “Scopa” Honors Italian Hospitality

Italian culture is prevalent in media, fashion, and for our purposes, footwear. Numerous brands have drawn from Italian exports both literally and figuratively in recent memory, whether it be “Made In Italy” sneakers from adidas and Jordan Brand or unique designs that boast Italian ties.

Asphaltgold’s first ever Puma collaboration falls in the latter of those two categories, taking inspiration from the popular Italian card game “Scopa” on a co-signed Puma Palermo. By and large, the collaboration evokes the essence of Italian hospitality. The choice to make “Scopa” the focal point derives from the culture’s emphasis on quality time with family and friends, which often boils down to gathering around a deck of cards.

Naturally, the shoes themselves come packed with several clever “Scopa” ties. The co-branded labels on the medial sides reveal hidden messages when you flip them up like you would a set of cards, and the outsole features a print of the sun, the most powerful card in the game. The shoe’s canvas base, blue overlays, and red lining don’t have specific associations, but align well with the look of tablecloths and other gameplay surfaces.

Enjoy official campaign images below and mark your calendar for the shoe’s release at 9:00 AM EST on May 4th exclusively through asphaltgold.com.
