The hardware present on this shoe isn’t just tapping into past eras, it’s taken straight from it- the sole unit entirely intact from the Rivalry Hi model introduced in the 80s. While some of the tooling is modified for the modern day, the model’s wide bodied appeal still remains all the same. For this pair specifically, the suede swap on the upper here taps into the low-key lifestyle lane that brought huge success to models like the adidas Samba and adidas SL72. Affixing a gum sole to the classically inspired upper is just icing on the cake in that regard, closing out a laid back atmosphere for a shoe that’s traditionally anything but.
