Nike Field General 82 “Light Volt” Brightens Up For Summer

A new aesthetic for the 80s football shoe.

Nike Field General 82 “Light Volt” Brightens Up For Summer

Expect more Nike Field General colorways in the near future. Nike brought back the 80s-bred turf shoe at the dawn of 2024, but summer looks to be the busiest season for the model’s revival tour given its low-top profile and breathable build.

While sneakerheads eagerly await updates surrounding the Union Field General collaboration, the Beaverton brand presses on with new mainline treatments. In keeping with the fashion sensibilities that go hand-in-hand with warm weather, Nike dresses the Field General in “Light Volt/Dusty Cactus” for Summer 2024.

The shoes wear the same leather/nylon build as original colorways, but break from norms with gum soles underfoot (as opposed to black). The Swoosh, tongue, and heel work in “Dusty Cactus” hits, while the base makes a loud imposition in “Light Volt.”

Each subsequent Field General colorway reveals more about Nike’s ambitions for the “new” silhouette, and this pair departs greatly from the original/traditional looks that have defined the shoe’s rollout thus far. It will take some time for the full picture to come into focus, but based on the precedent set here, sneakerheads should expect to see more adventurous Field General applications over the coming months.

Enjoy official images below and look for pairs to hit shelves in Summer 2024 for $100. Steering to another low-top Swoosh classic, check out images of the Air Jordan 1 Low “Shadow” dropping on May 11th.
