Original article posted May 13th, 2024: Nike has reoriented their current slate plenty in the past few years to reflect “dad shoe” aesthetics. While the Zoom Vomero 5 is still king, in typical Beaverton fashion, they’re ensuring that it isn’t the only option for consumers. The Nike Pegasus 2K5 in its newest “Chrome” arrangement very much lives in that lane with an all-encompassing vintage look.

The “Photon Dust” light grey that hits the underlying nylon mesh is the bridge between the two retro shades that really define this look. Off-white “Sail” anchors on the laces and sock-liner, while reflect metallic leather bends across the upper and centers embroidered lateral Swooshes. As we’ve come to expect with chrome heavy looks on any shoe, a faux vintage midsole rounds out the composition, paired with a jet black outsole unit. As its title suggests, 2005 introduced the Pegasus 2k5, so the model champions early century aesthetics by definition, unchanged in this application. However, tonal and contrast outfits have dominated its renewed run so far. The chromed-out outfit worn here doubles down on the Y2K wave, nudging the staid model towards a real statement piece.

The Nike Pegasus 2K5 “Chrome” is projected to debut for Summer/Fall 2024- expect a $150 retail price. Catch a closer look via official images below.
