With the exception of a few models like the Nike Flyknit Haven, Nike’s embrace of the growing slip-on niche has been spearheaded by two sub-brands; Nike ACG and Nike ISPA. While the former delivers a more consistent selection through cuts like ACG Air Moc and newly re-emerged AGC Rufus, the latter has been playing a more low-key role through sporadic releases of the Nike ISPA Universal.
The ISPA Universal hasn’t crept into mainstream consciousness yet, but given the upcoming arrival of summer, it could be poised to make more of a name for itself. The model’s fossil-inspired build has informed a slate of earthy, marbled colorways thus far, but maybe an essential all-black look is just what the Universal needs to draw more broad appeal. Save for cork insoles, the entirety of this pair’s all-foam build comes painted in black for an agreeable look.
If you’re in need of a slip-on rotation refresh, mark your calendar for the shoe’s release on May 23rd via Nike SNKRS for $80. Enjoy official images below and reference our “Where To Buy” section for direct shopping links upon the shoe’s release.
Pivoting to another all-black Nike shoe, check out the Nike ACG Mountain Fly Low 2 “Triple Black.”
