Original article posted May 31st, 2024: While 2024’s Grey Day is in the rear view, the folks at New Balance didn’t arrive at that brand holiday without cause. Neutrally clad, greyscale outfits have draped their silhouettes truly since the company’s very beginnings. So even if some of their newer spotlighted models like the New Balance 550 or New Balance 1906R carve out new lanes for the Boston brand, we all know where their heart is. The New Balance 9060 heads into that very territory with its latest edition, clad in black and “Charcoal.”

If you block out the boisterous-as-ever sole unit, this edition of the New Balance 9060 resembles any run-of-the-mill 99x model up top. That is to say, the requisite blend of greyscale choices is in focus on the upper, working out from the silver hue of the “N” branding in a smattering of mineral shades. Underfoot, an equal but opposite blend of light neutrals keeps even that section in tonality conservative territory. In all, it’s a tale of two halves; the 9060 stays funky and futuristic in its construction but reigns things in greatly with the palette at play here.

The New Balance 9060 “Charcoal” lands this Fall, retailing for $150. Keep this article and our Sneaker Release Dates page handy for the latest release info as it emerges.
