Calling the Nike Lunar Roam one of their “latest” running propositions is accurate on its face, but doesn’t tell the full story of the model introduced at the end of 2023. While it’s a new formulation, its hardware comes from more than a decade ago, revising and revisiting the Lunarlon foam that defined 2000s silos like the Hyperdunk and even the Kobe 4. The past-meet-presents silhouette is charging ahead in its first year on the market, now materializing in a “Sesame” colorway.
The titular tan doe the heavy lifting on the upper, gracing the topmost synthetic mesh overlay. However, as on past versions, there’s a real expression of geometry in this shoe’s design- ovaline splotches and rounded rectangle patches dot that section over top while also peering through inside. Notes of “Smoke Grey” and “Dark Raisin” make their presence felt in that way, stretching the emphasis on neutrals that marks this edition. For those committed to the trail that shy away from modern toolsy looks like the Nike Pegasus 41 or retro offerings like the Nike Zoom Vomero 5, the Lunar Roam presents an amenable middle ground between those two schools of design.
The Nike Lunar Roam “Sesame” drops as a part of the Fall ’24 slate. Expect a $150 retail price- catch a glimpse of what to expect via retailer images further down.
