NTS Radio’s mark on London’s current music scene can’t be overstated. The modern pirate radio imprint has championed originality since 2011, leading the Three Stripes to celebrate them on their 8 year anniversary several years back. Though the occasion isn’t clear just yet, the two brands are revitalizing their partnership with a two-part adidas Samba Millenium capsule.
Recalling a significant moment for both Londonders and Three Stripes lovers, the palette here calls back to England’s 2006 World Cup team. The squad, headlined by David Beckham, wore sky blue editions of the adidas Predator Absolute. Though failing to reach the podium for that event, the look was clearly indelible enough to warrant a referential revival in this capsule.
Indeed, those boots’ dominant aquamarine tonality gets the most real estate on the brighter pair, and its wavy stitching pattern is reflected compositionally as well. Two sections in matte white and translucent gum weave together to create the sole, the most notable change on the Millenium offshoot as compared to mainline Sambas. The composition here rounds out with a tan suede patch at the back that displays the NTS Radio logo, matched by alternating embroidered co-branding on the tongues. While not any less appealing, the black & white version presents a far more traditional counterpart, keeping to the default Samba look while still carrying the same special edition touches.
As of writing, a release date for the NTS Radio x adidas Samba Millenium hasn’t been announced. The two imprints are currently hosting an event tour promoting their apparel collection, so we expect further details to come out at that project’s conclusion.
