The Flyknit moment is pretty squarely behind us, the era when the airy technology ushered in a wave of knit uppers that stretched from the Yeezy 350 to (regrettably) the Air Jordan 1. However, Nike’s undying focus on innovation means that even old tools can be given new life, something seen with the introduction of both the Nike Flyknit Haven, Flyknit Bloom and Air Max Flyknit Venture towards the start of the year. With the debut colorways out of the way, the new silo is beginning to spread its wings, now taking to a “Light Bone” & black blend.
The trail silhouette ditches its Nike ACG design language, rejecting the expressive palettes that defined its Air Max 95-like waves in previous editions. than the starkly midnight shade here. Nonetheless, the inverse gradient that pins black up top, “Light Bone” grey in the center and pure white lastmost on the midsole makes for an eye-catching arrangement all the same, just in the opposite way than we’ve come to expect. Additional design depth and texture arrives with the rope laces that stretch across the heel and the plush protrusions dotted around the collar.
While there isn’t much shared composition between the two shoes, it is worth mentioning that this is essentially an adaptation of a theme first spotted on the Air Jordan 4 RM. To be specific, the retooled model cooked up an aesthetically identical colorway with the Jordan 4 RM “Light Bone.”
The Nike Flyknit Venture “Light Bone” is expected to release in time for Fall ’24, arriving in women’s sizing with a $185 retail price.
