Original article posted June 19th, 2024: Following the sudden drop of the Nike KD 17 “Team Bank,” the Nike Ja 1 is minting its own tonal colorways, marching out four “Team Bank” editions set to arrive very soon.

Given that the first signature Ja Morant shoes have enjoyed an extended initial run, it’s somewhat of a surprise that this sort of treatment took so long to arrive. Nonetheless, all four editions arrive in some traditional, team-friendly palettes: black-on-white, white-on-black, white-on-red and white-on-blue. The silhouette may be typically known for expressive design language (see the graphic print of a shoe like the Ja 1 “Reverse Scratch”), but these pairs strip the construction down to be as accessible as possible. The chief aspect that sticks around is the personalizing type at the heel, stamping both the Grizzlies superstars’ initials and his number.

Zooming out, this renewed effort hints at the possibility of another Nike Basketball silhouette launched in similar fashion. Photos of “Team Bank” Kobe 8s have steadily emerged in the past few months, showcasing looks like the Kobe 8 “Champagne Gold,” Kobe 8 “College Navy” and Kobe 8 “Wolf Grey.” While the inherent hype around that shoe makes a sudden Nike.com drop a bit of a tougher sell, you never know what might pop up on shelves.

All four pairs in the Nike Ja 1 “Team Bank” collection are expected in extended men’s sizing and a $120 retail price upon arrival. Keep this article and our Sneaker Release Dates page handy to be on top of the drop and for direct links once these pairs materialize.
