The legacy of the Air Jordan 1 still looms very large over the current Nike catalog, but when it comes to kids’ shoes, Nike is willing to loosen their grip on the model’s vaunted status. That is to say, even if Mike’s empire began with the AJ1, there’s nothing stopping Beaverton creatives from getting funky with its design when the opportunity arises. Now entering that category, the Air Jordan 1 Low just emerged with some animated detailing that sets it apart from the crowd.
As promised in our title, the selling point of this shoe is at the collar, a strip of ruffled, see-through fabric emulating costume wear. It certainly is the guiding principle, but not the only animated accent that makes this shoe carry special edition weight; a polka dot tongue, speckled grind sole and multi-color rope laces are the clearest addition sections that support its playful vibe. Speaking of, the concept closes out with a “Let’s Play!” insole that ties it to an earlier colorway of the Jordan Spizike Low and might be a harbinger of future pack releases down the line.
This Air Jordan 1 Low is expected to hit shelves in short order, retailing for $105 and coming in girls’ sizing upon arrival. Check the gallery embedded just ahead for a closer look at what to expect.
