As international attention turns to skateboarding as a part of the sport’s second-ever appearance at the Olympics, adidas in reaching in their roster of skate talent for a synergistic release. France’s Lucas Puig and his signature adidas Puig silhouette are crashing into the adidas Samba, with the end product set to drop on August 1st.
Many of the most iconic portions of the Samba proper remain here, from the suede T-toe to the leather hardware that dominates the rest of the upper. Indeed, Puig’s (and the Puig’s) influence is felt strongest underfoot, the curvilinear design of the sole unit is crafted almost one-to-one on this faux-hybrid. Additionally, the extension of the sole that creeps onto the heel remains here, its wavy outlines mirrored by a swirled rubber pattern on the very bottom of this design.
With the Samba already adopted as a skate standard, a fact that prompted adidas to release the ADV retooling nearly a decade ago, this is an opportune moment to feed into that demand for the silhouette while showcasing a skate legend whose country remains in the spotlight. The adidas Samba Puig releases on August 1st, retailing for $100- keep our “Where To Buy” widget below within reach for direct links on drop day.
