There’s still plenty of summer left, but New Balance already looks to be outfitting some of its most popular models for autumn. One of them, the New Balance 2002R, cozies up for cool weather with quilted leather up top, bringing a seasonal, contemporary touch to the trending runner-turned-lifestyle shoe.
While best recognized in sporty Y2K looks consisting of bright colors and metallic treatments, the 2002R has often ventured down different avenues by introducing new materials/design themes. Having established its uniqueness with an unconventional base layer, color theory takes a back seat on this pair. Off-white suede overlays match the quilted base, as does the midsole underfoot. Moreover, the New Balance quarter logos and backtab come crafted out of leather in alignment with the overarching aesthetic, the latter of which introduces brown leather to complement the ABZORB heel cushioning.
New Balance hasn’t floated a solid release date at the time of this writing, but interested parties can expect to see pairs hit shelves sometime during the Fall 2024 shopping season. Given the unique treatments at play, expect a slight markup from the model’s typical $145 MSRP.
