Nike is obviously the sneaker company most commonly associated with Portland, Oregon, but the city’s footwear pedigree extends well beyond the Swoosh. The city also contains the North American headquarters for On Running, KEEN, and, for our purposes, adidas. It’s now the Three Stripes that’s tapping into that local connection with a new collaboration with Deadstock Coffee, the sneaker-themed coffee shop giving the Adistar Control 5 a stunning and inspired makeover.
Founded in 2015 by former Nike footwear developer Ian Williams, it should come as no surprise that Deadstock Coffee knows how to make a solid shoe. The shop’s Adistar Control 5 draws inspiration from its ground coffee bag packaging, pairing a bold red and yellow colorway with a leather toe cap, suede side panels, and a nylon tongue. Open black mesh netting wraps the heart of the upper, while the inner lining and select portions of the outsole flare up in yellow.
This marks the second Deadstock Coffee x adidas collaboration to date, following a ZX 5000 in 2021 inspired by the jute bags traditionally used to transport coffee beans. The shop has also worked extensively with Nike and Jordan Brand over the years, most recently decking out Jayson Tatum in a custom pair of Jordan Tatum 2s back in 2024.
The Deadstock Coffee x adidas Adistar Control 5 drops October 30th at 8:00 AM local time exclusively at Deadstock Coffee. The release is expected to be limited, so you’ll want to be up and at ’em early if these are a must.
