Introduced in 2022, the New Balance 9060 has steadily risen to supplant the New Balance 550 as one of the key “it shoes” of the moment.
Granted models like the New Balance 1906R and 2002R vie for that title as well, and the 550 is still plenty popular, but the 9060 has relished in Instagram moodboard virality like no other, thriving off trending Y2K aesthetics and appealing directly to younger consumers with a penchant for unique footwear. Now building on a catalog packed with different styles and colorways, New Balance brings hairy suede and a variety of summer shades to this latest pair.
A calming “Lavender” accounts for hairy suede overlays up top, while grey leather forefoot underlays tie in with the tongue and heel among other ancillary elements. Sophisticated “Burgundy” floods the base of the shoe, while yellow and blue accents decorate the upper and midsole, respectively, add a bit more intrigue. While the titular “Lavender” color suggests a summer aesthetic, the design is well-rounded enough to hold its own in all seasons, especially considering the fall-friendly material composition.
