Ja Morant’s laundry list of milestone accomplishments grew by one on Saturday night when he was inducted into the Murray State Hall Of Fame; another accolade for the two-time NBA All-Star, 2022 Most Improved Player, and 2020 Rookie Of The Year. Morant, who played for Murray State for two years from 2017-2019, put on one of the best seasons in school history as a sophomore, becoming the first player to average 20 points and 10 assists since the NCAA began to officially recognize the latter statistic in 1983-84.
For Nike and Nike-sponsored school Murray State, there simply couldn’t be a better time to introduce Morant’s next signature shoe, the Nike Ja 2, to the world. Presented in a wooden box decorated by iconography calling out Morant’s career accomplishments, the gifted Nike Ja 2 comes decorated in glossy blue and grey mix, aligning with the suit Ja wore to the event as opposed to Murray State jersey colors.
This isn’t the first look we’ve gotten at the Ja 2 (pictures surfaced earlier this month), but rather the first official look by the hands of Beaverton brand. While this colorway isn’t expected to release, the model itself is projected to hit shelves in the final quarter of 2024.
There will be lots to unpack when it comes to the new model’s performance features and design specifics as more images/tech specs from Nike arrive over the next few months, but for now, enjoy detailed shots of Morant’s Murray State HOF PE below.
