Original article published August 2nd, 2024: With a collection centered around the Air Force 1 & Air Max 1, Nike redoubled their N7 program for 2024, continuing a run of First Nations-centered community efforts that’s stretched since 2009. Those who are tapped into the company’s intersection of fundraising efforts & footwear will know that despite that being the centerpiece of this years’ efforts, Beaverton is no stranger to dropping additional N7 releases throughout the year. That’s exactly the case with the latest addition, the Nike Dunk Low “N7.”

For this addition to the N7 category, the Nike Dunk Low circles back to the category’s beginnings, predominantly painted in turquoise & red. The latter shade was chosen as a fixture of N7 colorways dating back to 2013, said to be inspired by “”friendship and community in Native American culture.” An off-white midsole brings the design closer to the Swoosh mainline, adding a faux-vintage touch that’s complementary here and dominant throughout other Beaverton offerings. As a closing touch, this Dunk Low bears Next Nature construction, signalling at least 20% recycled composition by weight.

While every entry into the community-focused initiative is noteworthy, this Dunk Low bears extra significance for long-time sneakerheads. It’s the first return in recent memory to the teal, red & white palette once synonymous with Nike N7 releases. For our money, the Nike KD 7 was the last time it was applied, falling out of favor as Beaverton shifted from a one-size-fits-all approach to a more bespoke application of Native artists for each specific collection. If you cut your teeth collecting in the early 2010s, there’s got to be a sense of nostalgia the colorway evokes in you all these years later, and if not, it’s still a palatable take on a classic silhouette.

The Nike Dunk Low “N7” is expected to launch as a part of Nike’s Fall/Winter ’24 slate, retailing for $125.
