Andrew Rizzo As the New Balance 991v2 approaches its one-year anniversary this September, it’s fair to say the Boston brand has found a hit in its latest Made In UK model. Collaborations with Stone Island, Patta, and Danielle Cathari have been applaudable, and mainline pairs have been met with comparably high demand among New Balance heads. Some go for well above retail on the grey market, which is pretty unique for a shoe that retails for $250 or more.
We covered news regarding a Tokyo-exclusive black/pink colorway a few weeks back, but it turns out that shoe is part of a larger “City Pack” consisting of four more regional-exclusive colorways dropping at boutiques throughout the month of August. All pairs feature the same black and grey mix as the Tokyo edition, only with different colors swatched onto the suede overlays so as to allude different locales in vague fashion.
Paris boutique Starcow kicks things off with a green pair releasing August 10th, taken in the same shade as the store’s external facade in Les Halles district. The atmos-exclusive pink colorway drops August 14th, followed by the release of a blue pair helmed by Baltimore boutique Social Status on August 17th. The red colorway is exclusive to Greater China and will release through NB Grey on August 21st, while the yellow pair nods to the Asia-Pacific region at large, dropping at both Korea’s Casestudy and Australia’s Up There on August 28th to conclude the slate.
New Balance hasn’t floated any price information at the time of this writing, but interested consumers should anticipate an MSRP close to the standard $250 mark or its currency-equivalent. As mentioned, all five pairs are retailer and regional-exclusives and are not expected to drop via New Balance channels (other than the Greater China pair).
