The adidas Gazelle Team Is For Skaters

Enhanced leather uppers make for a more durable wear.

The adidas Gazelle Team Is For Skaters

adidas is releasing an all-new version of one of its most popular models, taking the Gazelle and completely re-tooling it with soccer and skate shoe hallmarks.

The new model, officially dubbed the adidas Gazelle Team, takes the standard Gazelle sole but is otherwise best examined as a fresh offering. For one, the upper is comprised of leather as opposed to suede like most Gazelle colorways, perhaps meant to enhance the shoe’s skate-worthiness. The heel features an added layer of leather that wraps down to the frontmost stripe, adding more durability, while stitched ripples near the toe take after classic soccer cleats.

It feels a bit odd to call the Gazelle Team “soccer inspired” since the standard Gazelle has been a favorite among indoor footballers for decades, but it’s fair to say the shoe delivers a more embellished ode to the sport. It’s also a little unclear whether these are intended to be skateboarding or mere skate-inspired shoes at the time of this writing, but that should become clearer as the model makes a formal introduction in the near future.

The adidas Gazelle Team “White/Black” is available in Europe now and will likely arrive stateside during the Fall 2024 shopping season. See official images below.
