Purveyor of loose-fitting, casual, yet mature menswear since 1997, Needles Japan is back in the fold with its latest collaborative project with long-time partner Reebok. Having trusted the vision of brand founders Keizo Shimizu and Daiki Suzuki, Reebok first introduced its partnership via the cozy Beatnik in both Slip-On and Moc form.
For its next silhouette, Needles is jumping from homely to eccentric, focusing on the brand’s iconic Instapump Fury. Utilizing the true-to-OG ’94 build, Needles sticks to its color formula by applying monochromatic black and tan to the entirety of the shoe. The base layer matches the exterior pump bladder, which matches the actual pump mechanism, which matches the segmented outsole and hardened faux-carbon fiber mid-foot plate.
The only markings arrive by way of the brand’s butterfly insignia, itself hidden at the toe-box due to monochromatic thread colors instead of the expected purple.
These are currently available at Australian retailer Up There; a global release has yet to be announced, and the project itself has yet to be teased by either brand.
