Original article published September 14th, 2024: The debut of the new models like the Air Max Dn and return of grails like the Patta x Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll” have been the most headline-worthy Nike Air Max developments of the year at this juncture, but quiet as kept, the Beaverton brand’s new “Drift” series has fully crept onto the scene.

With the Air Max Plus Drift leading the way at the dawn of the year, Nike brought likeminded TPU-heavy alterations to the Air Max 90 Drift a few months later. New colorways have continued to surface steadily since then, with this new “Safety Orange” edition being the latest. The titular hue accounts for the Swoosh, midsole wedge, and heel patch among other accent elements, leaving the rest of the design to “Phantom” and “Dark Smoke Grey.” Almost everything about the Air Max 90 Drift differs from Tinker Hatfield’s original sketch, but key features include a synthetic toe box, TPU paneling (as opposed to leather/suede), and added pull tabs on the tongue and heel.

Currently, the Air Max 90 Drift “Phantom/Dark Smoke Grey/Safety Orange” is expected to release during the Fall/Winter 2024 shopping season for $160. Scroll through official images below if you’re considering copping a pair.
