Matt Varga adidas has long brought their partnership with the MLS to footwear, highlighted this year by a spate of Messi / Inter Miami product and a crop of Gazelle styles for some third jersey reveals. For the latest stateside soccer x Three Stripes collection, they’re adding third partners into the mix, bringing local skate shops in on the action. Though still in the early stages of the rollout, we’re getting preliminary looks at Charlotte & Minnesota’s take on the concept.
In a bit of unplanned synergy, the two shops that revealed their collabs first have some overlap in the clubs they represent. The Minnesota United Gazelle ADV, handled by Minneapolis’ own Familia Skateboards, pins the team’s sky blue all across the suede upper, bearing the skate shop’s emblem embossed into the heel cup and stamped on the insole.
The Charlotte FC edition of the Samba ADV gets a bit more eccentric with its application of “University Blue.” A gradient from silver to the titular hue plays out across the Three Stripes, while a tumbled leather upper is interrupted by silver stamps with the retailer’s name.
Each of these pairs will be accompanied by co-branded soccer kits, Black Sheep already revealing a coastal, wavy co-branded edition. At the time of writing, it’s unclear just how far the adidas Skateboarding x MLS collection will stretch, but we’re expecting more shops & clubs to get in on the action in the coming weeks.
