In the late 1990s somewhere along the Florida coast, Nike footwear designer Sean McDowell was hit with inspiration for what would later become one of the most iconic Air Max shoes of all time. Taking note from palm trees and the calming essence of the beach, the concept behind the Air Max Plus was born. Now harkening back to that time and place, this new “Shark Attack” colorway shines a light on guests that may have been looming in the water all along.
As is often the case, it’s the details that make the shoe’s design theme obvious. The insoles feature a red shark tooth graphic, and each pair comes with a black shark tooth keychain. Red treatments also touch up the tongue, mini Swoosh, and outsole, but taking a step back, eyes are first drawn to an aquatic blue pattern up top. Otherwise, Nike keeps things simple with a black midsole, mudguard, and tongue so as to heighten focus as the thoughtful details at play.
The Air Max Plus “Shark Attack” is available now at Sneaker Politics, suggesting a wider nike.com release is right around the corner. See official images below and turn to our “Where To Buy” section for convenient purchase links if you’re moved to cop.
