Kyrie Irving’s line with ANTA is about to get much deeper, with his China tour in the middle of September showcasing both his lifestyle KAI Tribe and the basketball offshoot KAI 1 Speed. However, the bread of butter of his partnership remains the ANTA KAI 1, widely lauded in its rookie year and now delivering two of its most-anticipated colorways. The all-white and all-black KAI 1 “Yin Yang” pack just dropped via a variety of stateside retail partners.
Part of what makes these two pairs so compelling is the shoes that preceded them, editions like “Kaleidoscope” or “Garden State” showcasing the flashy, eccentric home base of the ANTA KAI 1. The geometric patterns of the engineered mesh and the hieroglyphic-like typeface that prints Irving’s name on the midfoot strap remain, but the tonal palettes imbue a far sleeker profile than we’ve seen before.
On either pair, chrome accents on the tongue and the heel counter only further enhance that design. As with all of Kyrie’s ANTA footwear output, either pair carries dense narratives, with the nocturnal pair said to “embody stillness, focus and hidden power” and its brighter counterpart “representing [Kyrie’s] fearless and pure movement on the court.”
As mentioned towards the top, the ANTA KAI 1 “Yin Yang” pack is available now via Extra Butter, with some sizes already selling out. Kids sizing is available for both pairs, though those smaller pairs are online only. An additional release via ANTA.com is also set for September 28th.
