JJJJound Reveals Its Next ASICS Collaboration – The GT-2160

If there’s any one moment in time that kicked off ASICS’ meteoric rise, you could argue it’s when Montreal design studio JJJJound touched up two GEL-Kayano 14s in 2022. The Japanese brand has since relished in widespread demand for all its sportstyle offerings, standing tall as the key driver of the early 2000s runner trend. While JJJJound and ASICS haven’t released another project since those Kayano 14s came to light, we just got hit with an official preview of what’s to come.

Embedded below are images posted by @jjjjound revealing two collaborative ASICS GT-2160 colorways. Aesthetically speaking, both looks suit JJJJound’s contemporary ethos with a focus on simple colors and metallic silver treatments (although the white pair also features neon hits). However, dedicated ASICS heads are sure to recognize the non-traditional material swaps at play. Both shoes feature wide mesh at the base, differing from the more tight-knit construction of your average GR, and the overlays around the forefoot and tongue are comprised of carbon fiber as opposed to standard leather. Neither shoe is a “neck breaker” by most definitions, but all told, the delivery resembles JJJJound’s tried and true process of delivering tasteful upgrades without embarking on a complete aesthetic overhaul.

JJJJound captioned the images with “FW24,” so we’re likely due for a release in the very near future. Know that this page as well as our Sneaker Release Dates hub will display all the most recent images and drop details over the coming weeks.
