The Nike Air Max 90 “Volt” Shelters In GORE-TEX For Holiday 2024

A weather-permitting take on the 2020 release.

The Nike Air Max 90 “Volt” Shelters In GORE-TEX For Holiday 2024

The debut of Nike’s re-crafted Air Max 90 silhouette in 2020 was highly celebrated, introducing a new, more true to the original cut that’s since become standard on every release. On top of the improved tooling, the Beaverton brand’s selection of OG and OG-inspired colorways throughout that 2020 run was applaudable, with many fetching well above retail on the aftermarket four years later.

With that success in mind, Nike gave the Air Max 90 “Infrared” a GORE-TEX makeover last year, outfitting a sought-after OG colorway for the colder months of the year. Now with winter on the horizon once more, another member of 2020’s acclaimed series is getting that same treatment.

Shown below via official images, the Air Max 90 GORE-TEX “Volt” does features the same exact color blocking as its OG-inspired counterpart. The titular hue dots the backtab and midsole wedge among other accent elements, while the quarter and mudguard appear in “Cool Grey” and black, respectively. As a GORE-TEX shoe, however, material changes are abundant. The quarter and Swoosh drop suede in favor of leather, and the base and tongue are comprised of more durable, ballistic mesh. The tongue also features GORE-TEX branding instead of the traditional Nike tag, and the outsole gets splotched with “Volt” for added intrigue.

The Air Max 90 GORE-TEX “Volt” is slated to arrive during the Holiday 2024 shopping season for $160; a notable $30 more than the standard version. See official images below if you’re considering copping a pair.
