Following a six-year hiatus, Kobe Bryant’s second signature adidas Basketball shoe is back for another retro run. Previously known as the KB8 II and Crazy 2, the retro model has most recently been dubbed the Crazy 98 in reference to its release year. Unsurprisingly, original Lakers-inspired colorways have set the tone for the model’s current retro effort.
This pair comes as a fresh arrangement for all intents and purposes, but takes after the original “Lakers Home” colorway that released earlier this year. Importantly, that colorway was the one of the first to be revealed publicly back in the late 90s, with Kobe wearing a pair in competition against the Phoenix Suns.
Embracing Los Angeles Lakers colors in different fashion, “Collegiate Gold” accents rest atop a “Cloud White” base this time around. The accent shade dots the adidas logos on the tongue and collar, also touching up the eyelets and center portion of the outsole. Grey piping matches the radial sections underfoot, while Lakers-esque purple peeks through the mudguard window to polish off the delivery.
adidas hasn’t set a solid release date at the time of this writing, but the Crazy 98 “Cloud White/Collegiate Gold” is projected to hit shelves during the Holiday 2024 shopping season for $150.
