In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Doernbecher Freestyle, Nike, Inc. has crafted a super-limited edition Air Jordan XX that incorporates details of the two decades of creativity. Through the silhouette’s trademark laser graphics, Nike honors the twenty years of design through an assortment of laser-etched graphics around the shoe.
This marks the first time the Air Jordan 20 is included in the Doernbecher Freestyle at any capacity. The shoes were originally designed by Tinker Hatfield and featured the iconic laser graphics of Michael Jordans career on the mid-foot strap. Pioneered by long-time Nike creative Mark Smith, the lasering became a mainstay of Nike’s limited edition, top-tier products of that era, including the Entourage Air Force 1, the Mark Smith x Air Force 1 “Laser”, and more.
For the Air Jordan 20 Doernbecher, Nike designers created a brand new mosaic that highlights the 122 patient-designers and their creative input over the course of twenty years. Only twenty, individually numbered pairs will be released to the public via Sotheby’s auctions.
The auctions officially being on October 21st, 2024 and run through October 30th, 2024 at 12 PM ET. Each auction beings at $1, with each pair estimated to reach $2,000+ in bid amounts.
