Nike And OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Unveil Landmark 20th Anniversary Collection

For twenty years, Nike and OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital has been committed to the betterment of young patient care through a creative funding venture called the Doernbecher Freestyle, in which Nike designers partner with child patients to reimagine iconic and modern silhouettes. In 2024, this journey reaches an incredible two decade stretch that has generated over $37 million in proceeds for the hospital.

For the 20th Anniversary, Nike reveals a special new shoebox that features a slide-out compartment that splits open, as well as a Nike Tech Fleece hoodie that incorporates details of all six designers.

The six silhouettes co-designed by select patients of OHSU are revealed to be the Air Jordan 6, Nike Sabrina 2, Nike Zoom Pegasus 41, Nike Air Max Dn, Nike Air Max Sunder, and Nike Air Max 180 are all unveiled below.

The Air Jordan 6 Doernbecher is designed by Jillian Beagley; it features a pink, white, and light aqua green colorway with adhesive panels for an assortment of custom patches. “Give Life” is inscriped on the tongue via embroidery, while “Sports are my joy” is scribbled on the medial midsole to emphasis Jillian’s love of activity and exercise.

The Nike Sabrina 2 Doernbecher is designed by Sophia Jenkins. this colorful execution of the sneaker features custom patterns on the interior as well as a mosaic of small drawings on the midsole, including a smiley face, flowers, and even a pickle. A charm bracelet with lettered beads comes attached.

The Nike Zoom Pegasus 41 Doernbecher is designed by Tima Sviridenko. Her running shoe design shares her love of animals as small puppies and kittens are spotted around the sneaker. Reflective paw print patterns are laid on the mudguard, while a paw design is featured on the outsole bottoms.

The Nike Air Max Dn Doernbecher by Connor Kassing features a black/gold colorway with a unique pattern on the upper. The TPU overlay is replaced with musical notes, while Connor’s love of the arts is featured throughout. Glow-in-the-dark outsole bottoms are present at the forefoot.

The Nike Air Max Sunder Doernbecher by Quin Nims features a colorful paint-splatter graphic on the upper’; a customized mudguard in purple leather shaped in the manner of ocean waves. replaced the typical armor plating on the Sunder.

The Nike Air Max 180 Doernbecher by Ja’kai Taylor introduces a new jewel Swoosh on the upper, with white lightning bolts striking through the black overlays. Custom branding and letter appears on the tongue and heel, while the outsole features a luminescent rubber.
