To oversell the significance of the Wu-Tang Nike Dunk is an impossible task. Nike created limited, promotional pairs in 1999 to commemorate the Wu-Tang’s genre-shaking album Enter The Wu-Tang (1993), utilizing the collective’s hallmark palette of black and yellow. Much like Wu-Tang’s discography, the grail-level shoe has transcended generational barriers and become essential knowledge for sneakerheads and hip-hop fans alike (with plenty of crossover, of course). Travis Scott posted images of himself wearing Wu-Tang Dunks back in 2020, right around the same time a pair sold for $50,000 on the aftermarket.
In late June 2024, the Nike Sportswear Instagram account posted a video of the Wu-Tang Dunk covered in a hive of bees, immediately making it clear that Nike would in fact be releasing the shoe publicly for the very first time. To little surprise, promotional efforts have been abundant and applaudable. Nike paired Wu-Tang frontman RZA with Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges of the New York Knicks for the campaign, and also brought a special “36 Flavors” ice cream truck to the steps of Madison Square Garden.
To the uninitiated; the shoe takes after Iowa’s “Be True To Your School” Dunk High but with a slightly dimmer shade of yellow. Naturally, Wu-Tang logos on the tongue and lateral side of the heel are what make for special significance. On a minor note, these come with yellow laces and not black ones as seen in the image set attached here.
As mentioned, our “Where To Buy” section contains a list of all participating retailers dropping the Wu-Tang Dunk on November 9th. These are expected to be a difficult cop, so you’re advised to enter accordingly.
