Michael Jordan has “Bred.” LeBron James has “Dunkman.” Kevin Durant’s most enduring sneaker series is a departure from some of the other Nike, Inc. titans, however, reaching into sentimental territory with his yearly “Aunt Pearl” colorway. As his most recent entry nears release, we’re finally getting an official look at the Nike KD 17 “Aunt Pearl.”
For the (hopefully few) uninitiated, Durant and Nike created the Nike KD 4 “Aunt Pearl” in 2012 as a tribute to Pearl Williams, his great aunt who played a formative role in his upbringing before succumbing to lung cancer in the year 2000. Ever since, each new KD signature model has renewed with its own commemorative colorway, typically an all-pink edition, synergistic with Nike pledging a portion of all proceeds to the Kay Yow research fund.
All of that unsurprisingly remains for the KD 17 “Aunt Pearl,” making heavy use of rosy hues throughout. The Air Max Plus inspired TPU waves shift to suede for the first time in the model’s young history, printing embossed roses throughout the upper. It switches from a graphic Swoosh to an embroidered one, reflected further on the heel, which sports alternating “AP” and “KD” text from left to right.
As alluded to towards the top, the Nike KD 17 “Aunt Pearl” releases on November 15th, retailing for $150. Check out the full suite of official images ahead, and keep our “Where To Buy” widget close by for direct links on drop day.
