Andrew Rizzo Nike Inc.’s upcoming “Year Of The Snake” Lunar New Year collection is continuing to come into focus. With heavy hitters like the Kobe 5 Year Of The Mamba and a snakeskin-clad Air Jordan 11 stoking anticipation, we’re continuing to unpack some of the lifestyle offerings on tap for early 2025. Hot off the heels of a Year Of The Snake Air Force 1 for men, we’re now hit with official images of an alternate women’s release.
While simply utilizing snakeskin material is low-hanging fruit, the faux leather’s only cameo takes place on a red and black tongue tag. The heart of the design lends a nod to the arid biomes many snake species call home, crafted with a white leather base, tan overlays, tan midsole, and gum outsole. These also come with a suede backtab and tongue, both of which feature a wavy pattern reminiscent of a snake nest. A metallic gold Swoosh (and mini Swoosh) with red detailing speaks to traditional Lunar New Year attire, while interestingly, Nike incorporates both rope and flat white laces along with a metal snake-inspired dubrae.
