It’s been a rockier start than anticipated for the Dallas Mavericks, but Kyrie Irving has been a steady stellar presence in the early goings. Starting off 2024 with a new chapter, switching his signature line to the stewardship of ANTA, he’s looking to close the year with the same momentum. His ANTA KAI 1 is becoming more and more accessible in the United States as the Chinese brand ramps up its stateside retail partners, again on display with the KAI 1 “Sacred Bond.”
Most of the shoe is dominated by black and gold tones, lending a refined and classy atmosphere in the top notes. However, as we’ve come to expect, the rich geometric patterns that define the KAI 1 getn a chance to make their impression, working in teal across fibrous, breathable underpinnings on the toe and at the quarter.
As for the title, the “Sacred Bond” moniker surely alludes to the same sort of weighty, conceptual fare that’s marked past editions; “Artist on Court” and “Enlightened Warrior” provide precedent for a narrative centered around Irving’s playstyle and relationship to the game. Equally, the “Mother’s Day” and “Chief Hela” colorways speak to headier off-court inspirations. Without official word, it’s hard to pin down exactly which the KAI 1 “Sacred Bond” aligns with, but trust and believe, Irving’s storytelling abilities are in focus once again.
As mentioned towards the top, the ANTA KAI 1 “Sacred Bond” releases via Hibbett and select partnering retailers on November 22nd, commanding a $125 MSRP. We’re expecting a drop via ANTA.com on the same day or soon after, but that drop remains unconfirmed at this stage.
