A contender for the best execution of that “worlds collide” concept this year is the PUMA One Piece collab,marking an instantly sell-out in its original run and introducing an entirely new demographic to the harsh realities of a first come, first serve sneaker release. But there’s good news; ostensibly spurred by its popularity, the One Piece PUMA suede capsule returns to shelves on November 30th.
In case you missed our coverage of the initial drop, each of the Four Emperors get their own colorways here, planting the trademark palettes of Luffy, Buggy, Blackbeard and Shanks on the lifestyle-minded PUMA Suede. However, it’s not just simple palette swaps that carry this capsule, as the upper of each shoe gets additional detailing that reflects the characters they’re named for.
Buggy’s sports a wave-like Formstrip and shaggy, fire red suede, while Luffy’s wears a cloud Formstrip, debossed cracked patterns and a terry cloth liner. Blackbeard’s swaps the sidewalls to matte leather and Shanks’ adopts his iconic scars with three jagged stripes at the heel. All four shoes arrive with a medallion hangtag, cleverly inserting the German giant’s branding by planting its “P” monogram on a Belly coin.
