atmos’ New Balance 1906D “Deep Sea” Releases On December 21st

Updated December 18th, 2024: atmos revealed that their New Balance 1906D “Deep Sea” will release on December 21st via their in-store and online channels, remaining a Japanese exclusive as predicted. For stateside fans, you can still enjoy updated images of the shoe – a gallery is included just ahead.

Original article published December 2nd, 2024: atmos‘ touches can be felt all throughout the industry — adidas, ASICS, PUMA and Salomon are just a few of the brands they’ve refreshed their relationship with in 2024. New Balance has stayed a factor in the Japanese retailer’s story as well, and their latest link-up is set to revitalize one of the most popular design series in modern NB history with the New Balance 1906D “Deep Sea.”

In these teaser shots, creative director Hirofumi Kojima showcases a stealthy delivery of the distressed 1906 build, split between oceanic tones on the topmost overlays and blue anchoring throughout the rest of the shoe. Extended, jagged suede panels, a hallmark of the subseries, overlap on the toe and the quarter, while rarely seen leather notches around the laces and at the heel add the “Refined” portion of the futuristic composition.

What makes this collab edition so notable is that the last pair in the “Protection Pack” came at the tail end of 2023, with the Boston brand instead switching to fresh product to continue its distressed aesthetic. The New Balance 1906A stands as a shoe that’s carried the torch, but additional looks for the New Balance 2002R and other staple models have done the same.

With only a few weeks left in the year, expect the atmos New Balance 1906D “Deep Sea” beginning its rollout in earnest as we open 2025. As with most atmos drops, this pair will likely be a Japan exclusive, distributed through their retail channels and on atmos-tokyo.com.
