2024 brought one of the more seismic announcements in golf, which wasn’t even directly on the green. After remaining together for much of the icon’s legendary career, Nike and Tiger Woods split ways, with the 15-time major winner venturing out on his own, founding his Sun Day Red performance brand. After easing into the market with a range of active apparel, Tiger Woods and his imprint are introducing their first footwear model, the Sun Day Red Pioneer Cypress.
Tiger’s output with Nike fittingly leaned into a sportier side of golf footwear, but his debut model under Sun Day Red instead returns to the derby-shaped tradition of shoes for the green. Full grain leather gives way to a perforated counterpart, curvily split down the midline by fabric piping, culminating in a debossed tiger stripe panel on the heel. Regarding performance, the Pioneer Cypress is primarily informed by Woods’ input, “fueled by the unique insights only someone with 40,000,000 steps” can provide. To that end, a slim 6mm heel drop was explicitly tooled to maximize power, while two interchangeable inserts offer differing rides for all-day comfort.
For this initial delivery, five colorways are on tap, three relying on conservative, easily wearable white/grey, black/grey, and gray/navy profiles. Additionally, two “Limited Edition” looks help usher in the Sun Day Red Pioneer Cypress era, a “Bred” edition and a more refined speckled white.
The Sun Day Red Pioneer Cypress is available now; the three “core” colorways will run you $250, while the “LE” pairs command a $275 MSRP. Grab your pairs here, or get a better sense of the new silhouette via the images below.
