If nothing else, the Jordan Spizike Low has proved the power of a remodel. While the Spizike proper held onto purchase in certain sectors of sneakerheaddom, the Spizike Low has already far surpassed its cultural relevancy, at least in the former’s later stages. As the model becomes part of the mainline Jumpman fabric, it’s embracing the tonal, with the Jordan Spizike Low “Sanddrift,” looming for a release next season.

Chiefly a two-tone look, this colorway pins tonal “Sanddrift” on the upper, anchoring it up top and below with pure white. Some extra flair derives from the tongue, where a translucent leather arrangement contrasts well with the complementary tones of the rest of the shoe. Zooming out, while it’s still liable to dip into iconic Air Jordan colorways from time to time, this showcases how the Spizike Low has largely succeeded by charting its own path. There have been tan-toned colorways before this one, to be sure. However, this is a look that succeeds on its own two feet rather than relying on residual feelings for an earlier pair, something we’re willing to acknowledge as a real marker of growth in the hybrid Jordans category.
