Original article published December 31st, 2024: adidas Originals has often looked to its star athletes on its roster for cross-category collaborations, delivering unique spins on classics such as Anthony Edwards‘ Rivalry. The next link-up is between two of the elder statesmen of the three stripes universe-Damian Lillard and the iconic adidas Superstar.

Official images reveal the classic Shell-toe look dressed in a cream/off-white upper and dark green stripes and heel-tabs, a clear-cut nod to Lillard’s current situation in Milwaukee. It’s similar to the recent adidas Dame 9 “Bucks” the dropped back in October.

The gilded accountrements on the heels nod to the various personalities of the long-range assassin; the D infused with the dollar sign touches on his Dame D.O.L.L.A. alter ego in hip-hop, while the stopwatch alludes to “Dame Time”-the moment in which Lillard turns things up a notch and completely takes over a game.

Currently, the Damian Lillard adidas Superstar is expected to launch this February 2025. Given how these athlete collaborations happen in clusters, it wouldn’t be surprising if other adidas signature athletes such as Ant, Donovan Mitchell, and James Harden got their own Superstar projects as well.
