The following was published on January 22nd, 2025:

Welcome back, New Balance 992, we’ve missed you. The most sought-after model under the Boston brand’s “Made In USA” line is returning in a big way in 2025, soon to be available in all “core” colorways alongside collaborations by some of New Balance’s most esteemed creative partners. Chicago’s Joe Freshgoods is following up his extraordinarily hyped “No Emotions Are Emotions” project from 2020 with another New Balance 992 in 2025; a faded “Aged Well” colorway rooted in the same theme.

The “Aged Well” 992 features a variety of pastel, earthy tones, essentially taking the 2020 release and dimming out the colors for a naturally aged feel. Suede overlays alternate between pink, tan, and clay red. The tongue and backtab feature brown leather, just like the preceding colorway, while the base appears in olive green mesh.

This will easily be one of the most hyped New Balance shoes of 2025. It checks off a lot of boxes; popular model returning, respected and well-known collaborator, and related to a past classic (while still asserting uniqueness).

Release information hasn’t been made public at this stage, but if you’re one to read tea leaves; Freshgoods’ “No Emotions Are Emotions” 992 helped kick off the model’s most recent resurgence on Valentine’s Day 2020. It’s possible that New Balance is planning to do the same thing in 2025, especially given the shared theme, but we’ll need to wait on more information to say for sure. Know that this article as well as our Sneaker Release Dates hub will be kept current with all the latest details as they come in.
