Matt Varga Juliana Salazar has been pulling the levers and curating style behind the scenes for many brands our audience will recognize: Aime Leon Dore, Ganni, Tiffany’s, and StockX. However, her most recent move placed her squarely in footwear, joining hands with ASICS — the most forward-facing taste was her GEL-KAYANO 14 photoshoot from 2023. Now it’s time for multi-talent to move from behind the camera to in front of it; she and ASICS just announced the Julia Salazar GEL Kayano 14, set to release on February 8th.
Given the genesis of the multi-hyphenate’s relationship with ASICS, reinterpreting the “Animus Sana In Corpore Sano” company motto, it’s only fitting that “Sound Mind, Sound Body” is pasted on the interior. The upper combines reserved “Vanilla Ice” and “Eucalyptus” shades and a pop of cyan blue at the heel, a “perfect balance of style and functionality” in the creative director’s own words. Given that the ability to style up and down the GEL-Kayano 14 was a key point in recruiting Salazar into the ASICS canon, it’s only fitting that her first collaboration embraces that same concept.
The Juliana Salazar ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 releases on February 8th, retailing for $160. ASICS will assuredly hold their own release, but select retailers like Extra Butter also have the pair queued up for that same date.
