Wales Bonner is at it again. It was only a matter of time before the UK label put its stamp on 2025, capping off 2024 with a wide-ranging campaign that took over the Samba, Samba Millenium, and Superstar. Though those reliable lifestyle staples have typically been their MO, Wales Bonner now nominally steps into the hoops world, unveiling an adidas Jabbar collaboration set to land sometime this year.
The contemporary label brings a typically luxe treatment to the Jabbar Low, coating the shoe with deep purple suede and a satin liner to match. The brand’s name appears in gilded text at the heel, mirrored with a similar cursive script on the tongue. Finally, perhaps the most unorthodox touch, the textured leather that graced the aforementioned late ’24 collection appears on the second of the Three Stripes brands at the quarter, the opposing ones carrying through the off-white tones from the sole.
Zooming out from this particular shoe, this demonstrates how adidas is putting its full collaborative weight behind the archival style. Those tapped into our coverage in recent months will remember Jerry Lorenzo’s premium Made In Italy Jabbar High, keeping the shoe’s basketball origins intact while simultaneously tapping into their ultra-premium “Made in” series. On the other side of the spectrum, the inaugural Willy Chavarria adidas collection previewed an elevated, runway-ready t ake on the low. This provides something similar, utilizing the Midas Touch of Wales Bonner for this low-cut look to leverage that fashion-minded angle, closer aligning it with the likes of the adidas Gazelle than any of the Three Stripes’ hoops models.
Given that this is the very first look at this shoe, release information is scant at best. Keep a close eye on our Sneaker Release Dates page for info on this collab as it comes. Otherwise, get another look at the Wales Bonner adidas Jabbar via the images below.
