Updated May 1st, 2025: Awake NY’s rollout for their Air Jordan 5 commences as the upcoming pink colorway has appeared on feed of @sukiibaby’s Instagram. Official release details have yet to be revealed.
Awake NY has shared a first look at their upcoming Air Jordan 5 collaboration for Spring 2025. Update: With the shop just launching their first collection of Spring 2025, they’ve displayed the shoes inside the store, dangling off pipes.
Last October, Sneaker News reported that two colorways would be releasing this year while dropping hints at a very creative and unprecedented application of the Awake logo on the upper (we were shown the shoes, but could not reveal details). Through an official reveal on the Awake NY Instagram account, Angelo Baque’s design features the upper netting window modified with the shape of the letter A logo and the classic translucent netting embedded inside. The Air Jordan 5’s other hallmark detail, the oversized reflective tongue, also features the AWAKE logo embroidered across. “NY” also replaces the customary “23” on the right shoe.
This is easily the most daring take yet on the Air Jordan 5 that will undoubtedly draw a firm line between lovers and haters of the shoe. Sneaker collaborations have been getting more and more risk-averse, leading to some rather conservative designs that don’t quite make the desired impact, so kudos to Baque and Awake for pushing the envelope with the Air Jordan 5.
This is one of two colorways that are expected to launch. The on pictured here is Arctic Pink/Metallic Silver/University Red/Black/White/Clear, while the second pair comes in at Black/Racer Blue/Metallic Silver/White/Clear. The latter features an identical design, but with a black upper and blue accent package.
