Models by Nike and adidas might account for most of our basketball coverage, but real hoopers know that New Balance has produced some of the strongest new performance models in recent memory. By relying on its core tenets of comfort and quality, all of New Balance’s hoops series have gotten rave reviews since the brand stepped back onto the hardwood in 2018.
The New Balance TWO WXY line is the longest-running basketball series by the Boston sneaker giant, championed by the likes of Jamal Murray, Tyrese Maxey, and even Kawhi Leonard before New Balance gave him a signature shoe. Now on its fifth iteration, the TWO WXY v5 has surfaced in a new white and “Metallic Silver” colorway that’s as agreeable as they come. The “Metallic Silver” accent hue appears notably on the quarter logo and heel counter, while the bulk of the upper cleans up in white mesh. Underfoot, the shoe delivers an icy finish with semi-clear blue gum outsoles.
As for the tech specs, the TWO WXY v5 features a cushioning package of FuelCell and Fresh Foam X foam. It’s got a snug fit ideal for shifty guards and the like, and enough impact protection for big men.
This “White/Metallic Silver” colorway is available now via newbalance.com, carrying a reasonable price tag of $120. See official images below if you’re moved to try out a pair.
